This design is using, large up to 24" LCD TFT flat screen monitors of excellent ergonomic quality and without any disturbance of any ray system. This flat screen monitor is hinged similar to laptops, but to reach the exact ergonomic eyesight distance, the monitor can be pulled towards the user, to adjust the best possible eyesight. Ergonomics requires not only the best possible eyesight, but also to reach all interfaces by hands and arms in a comfortable and handy operation.
The following, lists and describes all the Items coordinated for ergonomic position on this computer:
1.The monitor and its buttons to adjust the legibility. 2.The optional loudspeakers and its control units. 3. The optional video camera and its control units. 4. The handles to pull the monitor towards the user. 5.The mouldet edge to lift up comfortably, the monitor. 6. The compact disk drawers to load disks and control it. 7. The zip or jaz drive slot to slide in the media. 8. The alternative DVD or CD burner and its control.
9. The good old floppy disk drive slot, optional. 10. The microphone protected against general room noice. 11. The video in connector comfortable at front. 12. The super VHS in connector at front. 13. The left and right HiFi audio in connector at front. 14. The general on-off power switch at front.
15. The reset switch as a pinhole at front. 16. The power controll LED at front. 17. The compartment in the lower CPU housing to store the keyboard away when not in use, to provide space for manual work at the desktop. 18. The storage for the mouse.
19. The spiral keyboard and mouse cable are drawn back automatically, in a receptacle in the lower rear part. There is no cable mass with this computer. Most cables are installed internally. 1. The Monitor power cable is installed internally. 2. The monitor communication cables are installed internally and sloping as a band between computer and monitor. 3. The HiFi loudspeaker cable are internally. 4. The video camera cable is installed internally. 5. The microphone cable is installed internally. 6. The Video in cable is installed internally. 7. The VHS in cable is installed internally. 8. The left and right audio in cable is installed internally. 9. Many other cables can be installed internally, even when the connectors come out of standard PCI cards at the rear of the computer housing. Only one power and one network cable ist best placed at the rear of the computer. The Video out, the SVHS video out, and the left and right audio out, are placed at the rear for connecting to a video recorder. A horizontal hinge in one half hight of the computer allowes to open the 4 level computer housing, 180 degree, for maintenance and to change configurations.
The following drawings show 7 different computer workstations for specific works and are drafted in the most basic and cubicle design. This one is addressed to multimedia and video conferencing. The unit can be manufactured in different colours to mach the environment of the users conference studio. Attached to the flat screen 21 " monitor are two HiFi loudspeakers with integrated floodlights to enhance the speaking person or for demonstration goods or papers in front of the video camera.
This workstation is a clear, cleen design for graphic designers. Graphic designers need a large screen and a lot of storage space in different medias. Two hard drives, each of more than 120 Gigabite plus a CD Rom or DVD Rom and/or burner plus zip or jaz, this is what graphic designers like. All the devices are in easy bendet arm reach, for comfortable work. The legibility of the 21" monitor can not be better and is top of the art 2003.
What is that? This is a professional computer workstation for architects and engineers, working permanent with part lists, spare part catalogs, or for specification writers to prepare tender documents on international or large projects. The 21" main screen shows all graphics or CAD images, wile the smaller 17 " monitor provides the text data, the spare parts catalog to chose from, or the specification text. All other features are as mentioned above.
This standard computer workstation might be the industry standard for the future, in banks, or large company administration departements. The configuration can be as minimum as the departments work require, and it can be taylored towards specific jobs. The 17 " LCD TFT monitor is in the right position and give room for standard hardcopy forms just in the front center at the same eyesight distance as the monitor.
This is a correspondence workstation for full shift secretarial work. The 17 " monitor is build in, in a vertical position, to see a full page letter and avoiding scroll functions all the time. A variety of storage features can be build in, as well as full page hardcopy holders left or right, or on both sides in the same eyesight distance as the monitor for the best legibility. A lockable front panel can be offered for all 7 computers, to lock up the hole computer, including keyboard, mouse, storage devices and monitor.
A multimedia standard computer can be offered with a 17 " LCD TFT monitor for all those artists, creating websites or jobs where a 21 " monitor is not needet, or because of the higer price, can not be affordet. But also this computer can be equipped with all the storage devices available in all the other computer workstations. Even when this computer looks smaller than all before mentioned, all devices have their place reserved within the 4 levels of the computer housing.
It was not my intention to design a home computer, but why shall home computers suffer from features, designed for the professional world. Simply because they must appear on the market with lower price tags. The Industry must make the development. Smaller monitors, slower processors, smaller storage drives and slower CD drives, or surplus components can be used to make also with this design a cheaper home workstation computer.
This following 2 drawings show the basic principle, the 4 levels of this computer design. Level A blue colour, houses in the rear, the motherboard, the PCI cards, the power supply, the receptacle for the keyboard and mouse cable and a ventilator. The front compartement, houses the keyboard and the mouse. The inner divider panel is perforated for non powered ventilation.
Level B green colour, is a perforated intermediate shelf, hinged commonly with level A and C+D in 1/2 hight of the rear computerhousing. On the underside of level B, all cabels can be installed as a cable tree, on the upper side of level B, all storage devices are placed and wired with SCSI band cable or later developments. Level C+D red color, are hinged together with the red hinge-handles and function as described obove and as can be seen on the side view pictures.
